The University of Silesia in Katowice, founded in 1968, is a public research university located across four campuses in Katowice, Sosnowiec, Cieszyn, and Chorzów in the Silesian region of southern Poland. With approximately 18,300 students and eight faculties spanning humanities, natural sciences, law, social sciences, theology, and science and technology, it is one of the largest universities in Poland. It is home to the internationally recognised Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School and participates in the Transform4Europe European university alliance; in 2024 Katowice held the title of European City of Science.
