What it's really like

Czechs and Poles are close Slavic neighbours with shared cultural roots, which eases integration. There is a mostly tongue-in-cheek mutual stereotype of rivalry, and Czechs are sometimes surprised Poland isn't as similar as assumed (food, customs). Still, relations are partnerly, with joint cultural initiatives (e.g. the cross-border 'Bez granic' theatre festival in Cieszyn/Český Těšín since 1990). Geographic and partial linguistic proximity means a Czech student rarely feels out of place.

Community: Small but naturally integrated neighbour community, strongest in the border region (Cieszyn Silesia). No large student clusters; the border encourages back-and-forth mobility.
