Incoming students arrive into an established, largely well-integrated community — second-generation Vietnamese-Poles are common, especially in Warsaw. Experience is generally smoother than for newer Asian arrivals, though interviews reveal a real identity tension: many still don't feel fully Polish and face othering despite fluency and long residence. **Community:** ~458 Vietnamese students within a diaspora of ~40,000–60,000 — by far the most embedded Asian community in Poland, concentrated in Warsaw. ## Tips from students & forums 1. Use embassy-accepted Vietnamese insurers (Bao Minh, Bao Viet) for your ≥ €30,000 Schengen cover to avoid rejected documents. [gov.pl](https://www.gov.pl/web/vietnam/d-type-national-visa) 2. Tap the existing Warsaw Vietnamese community for accommodation and orientation — the largest and most established Asian network in Poland. [en.wikipedia.org](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vietnamese_people_in_Poland) 3. Apply at the Hanoi consular section in your district and submit original (not copy) 3-month bank statements. [gov.pl](https://www.gov.pl/web/vietnam/d-type-national-visa) ## Good to know - Vietnamese are Poland's largest non-European immigrant group (~40,000–60,000) and the EU's 4th-largest Vietnamese community. - The community traces to 1950s–60s socialist-era student scholarships — one of Poland's oldest Asian migrations. Visa-refusal figures are Schengen short-stay proxies unless stated; Poland does not publish national (type D) study-visa refusal rates per country. Flight prices and monthly budgets are estimates from aggregators and study.gov.pl and change over time. Entries ranked 31+ are added for search coverage of countries Poland does not publish separate student counts for; their studentsInPoland.count is null by design unless a published figure exists (the Perspektywy/GUS "Studenci zagraniczni w Polsce 2023" report covers some).
