The main real obstacle is the lack of a Polish mission in-country. Total price is an estimate. Prices vary — estimate from [kiwi.com](https://www.kiwi.com/en/cheap-flights/dushanbe-tajikistan/istanbul-turkey/) ## What it's really like A small, low-visibility community — Tajiks don't appear separately in Polish student statistics. Perception resembles other Central Asians (more neutral than the Arab grouping), but Tajiks face an extra logistical barrier: they must first travel to Tashkent or Almaty for the visa itself. Day-to-day student experience depends mainly on the city and university; with no large home diaspora, the support network on arrival is thin. **Community:** Very small; Tajiks don't appear in top GUS rankings (estimate: a few hundred or fewer). ## Tips from students & forums 1. Plan a trip to Tashkent (closer) or Almaty for the visa — there's no Polish visa post in Tajikistan. Factor that cost and time into your timeline. [embassies.net](https://embassies.net/poland-visa-for-tajikistan-citizens) 2. Fly via Istanbul (Turkish/Pegasus/Somon Air) — the most reliable hub to Warsaw; DYU–IST from ~€95. [kiwi.com](https://www.kiwi.com/en/cheap-flights/dushanbe-tajikistan/istanbul-turkey/) 3. Plug into the larger Uzbek/Central-Asian community at your university — there's effectively no big Tajik diaspora in Poland. [Tajikistan on Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tajikistan) ## Frequently asked questions ### Do Tajik students need a visa to study in Poland? Tajik citizens need a Polish national long-stay (type D) study visa for programmes over 90 days. Typical processing: 2–4 weeks (~10 working days stated). No Polish embassy in Dushanbe — apply at the Polish Embassy in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) or the Consulate-General in Almaty (Kazakhstan); requires travel abroad ### How many Tajik students are in Poland? About 415 students from Tajikistan were enrolled in Poland (2022/23, GUS/NAWA data). ### How much does it cost to live in Poland as a student? Roughly €630–1,210 a month for a student living alone in a one-bedroom flat, from Lodz (the cheapest of the 8 cities we track) to Warsaw (the most expensive); a university dormitory or shared flat usually brings that down to about €400–700. Estimate from Numbeo market data accessed 9 July 2026 — for a visa, rely on the sum the authorities specify. Visa-refusal figures are Schengen short-stay proxies unless stated; Poland does not publish national (type D) study-visa refusal rates per country. Flight prices and monthly budgets are estimates from aggregators and study.gov.pl and change over time. Entries ranked 31+ are added for search coverage of countries Poland does not publish separate student counts for; their studentsInPoland.count is null by design unless a published figure exists (the Perspektywy/GUS "Studenci zagraniczni w Polsce 2023" report covers some).
