## Visa refusal — the honest picture

No clean per-country figure is published — here's what is known:

No public Schengen per-country rate for Poland; for context, the US refused ~41.54% of Kyrgyz applications in 2023 (different system)

**Important:** US data is not Schengen and not type D — proxy/context only. Kyrgyzstan had the lowest US refusal of the Central-Asian trio.

## Getting there

Most reliably via Istanbul; FRU–WAW from ~€240 one-way. Total price is an estimate from leg sums.

## What it's really like

Kyrgyzstan has a strong student-mobility tradition (it hosts tens of thousands of foreigners itself), but the Kyrgyz community in Poland is small and low-profile. Perception resembles other Central Asians: more neutral than the Arab grouping, though prejudice toward visibly non-European people can occur. The real obstacle is visa logistics — the Bishkek consulate doesn't accept applications, so you use a representation (Swiss Embassy) or travel to Almaty.

**Community:** Small; Kyrgyz students don't appear separately in top GUS rankings (estimate: a few hundred).

## Tips from students & forums

1. Check the application route in Bishkek — the Polish consulate doesn't accept applications; the Swiss Embassy handles them, with Almaty as an alternative. Plan this ahead.

2. Fly via Istanbul (Turkish/Pegasus) — the most stable route to Warsaw; FRU–WAW from ~€240 one-way.

3. Budget the cost of travelling for the visa (Almaty / Bishkek representation) into your application timeline — it's a real extra expense.

## Good to know

- Kyrgyzstan is itself a large student importer (55,827 foreigners in 2023/24, mostly from India and Uzbekistan).
- The Polish consulate in Bishkek does not process visa applications — handled via representation/Almaty.

Last reviewed: 2026-08-13. Visa-refusal figures are Schengen short-stay proxies unless stated; Poland does not publish national (type D) study-visa refusal rates per country. Flight prices and monthly budgets are estimates from aggregators and study.gov.pl and change over time. Entries ranked 31+ are added for search coverage of countries Poland does not publish separate student counts for; their studentsInPoland.count is null by design unless a published figure exists (the Perspektywy/GUS "Studenci zagraniczni w Polsce 2023" report covers some).
