Ethiopia # Study in Poland from Ethiopia A practical, honest guide for Ethiopian students — visas, refusal rates, flights, costs and what life is really like. Backed by sources, not marketing. There's no Ethiopia-specific diaspora structure, so students lean on university international offices and pan-African networks. Two practical positives: Ethiopian Airlines' near-direct Addis–Warsaw route, and an established Addis embassy with a defined slot system — though the ~USD 235 fee and document superlegalisation are real friction points. **Community:** Modest Ethiopian student/diaspora presence; no major dedicated organisation found (estimate). ## Tips from students & forums 1. e-Konsulat slots in Addis Ababa are released Mondays at 09:00 local time and go fast — be ready to book the moment they open. [gov.pl](https://www.gov.pl/web/ethiopia/d-type-national-visa) 2. Superlegalise your educational documents in advance and bring an original 6-month bank statement with the bank's verification contact — both are explicitly required. [gov.pl](https://www.gov.pl/web/ethiopia/d-type-national-visa) 3. Budget the ~USD 235 visa fee in cash and consider Ethiopian Airlines' near-direct ADD–Warsaw route to simplify arrival. [corporate.ethiopianairlines.com](https://corporate.ethiopianairlines.com/Press-release-open-page/opening-new-pathways-ethiopian-airlines-commences-new-service-to-warsaw-poland) ## Good to know - Ethiopian Airlines began flying Addis Ababa → Warsaw in July 2024, giving Ethiopia near-direct air access to Poland. - Ethiopia's Polish national-visa fee is notably high at ~USD 235, payable in cash in Addis Ababa. Visa-refusal figures are Schengen short-stay proxies unless stated; Poland does not publish national (type D) study-visa refusal rates per country. Flight prices and monthly budgets are estimates from aggregators and study.gov.pl and change over time. Entries ranked 31+ are added for search coverage of countries Poland does not publish separate student counts for; their studentsInPoland.count is null by design unless a published figure exists (the Perspektywy/GUS "Studenci zagraniczni w Polsce 2023" report covers some).
