Egypt # Study in Poland from Egypt A practical, honest guide for Egyptian students — visas, refusal rates, flights, costs and what life is really like. Backed by sources, not marketing. English[العربية](https://apply.edu.pl/study-in-poland/from/egypt/ar/) North Africa / MENA [Browse English-taught programmes](/programs/) [How to apply](/guides/how-to-apply/) 419 Egyptian students in Poland 2022/23 · GUS/NAWA Yes Study visa required type D long-stay Direct Flights to Warsaw €155–250 round trip ## Visas & entry National long-stay (type D) study visa | Fact | Value | |---|---| | Processing time | 3–4 weeks | | Where to apply | Consular section, Embassy of Poland in Cairo (submissions 09:00–11:00 working days); e-Konsulat | | Proof of funds | ≈ €2,400+ for a 365-day visa plus accommodation; original 3-month statement (NOT from Egyptian/Sudanese/Eritrean banks) | ### Key documents - acceptance letter - original 3-month bank statement (not from EG/SD/ER banks) - return funds (≥2,500 PLN) - accommodation proof - health insurance Source: [gov.pl](https://www.gov.pl/web/egypt/d-type-national-visa) ## Visa refusal — the honest picture No clean per-country figure is published — here's what is known: No single citable 2024 % for Egypt; reporting notes Egypt lost ~USD 5M in non-refunded fees from rejected Schengen applications — substantial but below West-African levels **Important:** Left null rather than guessing. Egypt-specific catch: EG/SD/ER bank statements are NOT accepted as proof of funds. Source: [trtafrika.com](https://www.trtafrika.com/english/article/6a6982d6c7e6) ## Getting there Cairo (CAI) → Warsaw (WAW) | Fact | Value | |---|---| | Typical price | €155–250 round trip | | Flight time | 4 (DIRECT) h | | Airlines | LOT, EgyptAir | Only country here with true direct flights — LOT ~7 nonstop CAI–WAW/week, ~4h10. Prices vary — estimate from [flightsfrom.com](https://www.flightsfrom.com/CAI-WAW) ## What it's really like Egyptians sit somewhat apart from the sub-Saharan group: as a North African/Arab, predominantly non-Black community, their experience is shaped more by being visibly Middle Eastern/Muslim than by the anti-Black racism documented for other African students, though othering and bureaucracy still occur. Poland is increasingly marketed to Egyptians as an affordable, accessible European option, and Egyptian outbound study has tripled in a decade. The community is modest but better-served logistically than any sub-Saharan peer here, thanks to direct Cairo–Warsaw flights and an established Cairo embassy. **Community:** Growing but still modest Egyptian student presence, part of a broader MENA/Arab cohort; no single dedicated organisation found (estimate). ## Tips from students & forums 1. Do NOT rely on an Egyptian (or Sudanese/Eritrean) bank statement for proof of funds — Polish national-visa rules reject them; arrange funds in an accepted foreign/Polish account. [studyinpoland.info](https://studyinpoland.info/blog/financial-documents-required-for-polish-national-study-visa-applications) 2. Cairo consular submissions are only 09:00–11:00 on working days via e-Konsulat — plan your appointment window. [gov.pl](https://www.gov.pl/web/egypt/d-type-national-visa) 3. Use LOT's direct Cairo–Warsaw flights (~4h, from ~€155 one-way) — the cheapest, simplest arrival of any country in this set. [flightsfrom.com](https://www.flightsfrom.com/CAI-WAW) ## Good to know - Cairo–Warsaw is the only direct route among the African source countries here — LOT flies it ~7x/week nonstop in ~4h10. - For Polish national study visas, bank statements from Egyptian, Sudanese or Eritrean banks are explicitly not accepted. Visa-refusal figures are Schengen short-stay proxies unless stated; Poland does not publish national (type D) study-visa refusal rates per country. Flight prices and monthly budgets are estimates from aggregators and study.gov.pl and change over time. Entries ranked 31+ are added for search coverage of countries Poland does not publish separate student counts for; their studentsInPoland.count is null by design unless a published figure exists (the Perspektywy/GUS "Studenci zagraniczni w Polsce 2023" report covers some).
