They're generally perceived neutrally-to-positively as one of many Caucasus/Central-Asian nationalities drawn by affordable English-taught programmes. Most friction is practical — visa paperwork, residence-permit queues — rather than social. Community life centres on university networks in larger cities. **Community:** Growing mid-sized group — ~3,272 Azerbaijani students (2023/24), concentrated in larger university cities. ## Tips from students & forums 1. Compare direct Azerbaijan Airlines/Wizz Air fares against Istanbul connections — the low-cost and via-IST options are often cheaper than the direct premium fare. Get study documents certified and translated early for the Baku consulate to avoid delays in the type D process. [study.gov.pl](https://study.gov.pl/visa-application) 3. Once enrolled full-time, have the university register you with ZUS so NFZ health insurance is free; otherwise voluntary cover is only ~€11/mo. Visa-refusal figures are Schengen short-stay proxies unless stated; Poland does not publish national (type D) study-visa refusal rates per country. Flight prices and monthly budgets are estimates from aggregators and study.gov.pl and change over time. Entries ranked 31+ are added for search coverage of countries Poland does not publish separate student counts for; their studentsInPoland.count is null by design unless a published figure exists (the Perspektywy/GUS "Studenci zagraniczni w Polsce 2023" report covers some).
